Standardbred owner perks
The trots are for EVERYONE and harness racing in WA is proud to have a real family focus. A huge benefit of owning a Standardbred is the longevity of their racing career. Standardbreds are strong and durable horses, who can often regularly race up until they are 10 or more years of age – they really do become part of the family!

Owner Perks
From the exclusive Winners Bar at Gloucester Park, to visiting your horse at the stables and in the Birdcage on race day – owning a racehorse is an experience like no other.
PLUS of course, there’s prizemoney on top! Not to mention, if you race a Westbred or Double Westbred horse, you’re up for even more – with BONUS money!

There’s a whole lot of benefits to being an Owner … and you get the lot!
Prizemoney and bonuses
Prizemoney or ‘Stakes’ at the trots in WA provides a solid return on investment for standardbred owners;
Prizemoney for 1st to 5th place is split between the Owner, Trainer and Driver as follows;
- Owner = 87.5%
- Trainer = 7.5%
- Driver = 5%

Unplaced Subsidy Support
To assist Owners with the expense of preparing a horse for the trots, RWWA pays Owners an Unplaced Subsidy for horses who run 6th to last in every race.
Owners receive a $150 payment every time your horse is unplaced in a non-metropolitan race, and $185 for a metropolitan race.
