Martin Allan, of M. P. Allan Racing, started training thoroughbreds in 2015 after a long history in the sport of kings. His brother was a professional jockey, but weight issues meant Martin could not pursue his dream of becoming a jockey.
He did however have a great reputation as a track rider. He rode for well-known UK trainer Tim Easterby along with James Cummings in Sydney on his arrival to Australia. Martin then rode for famous West Australian based trainer Neville Parnham whilst he continued to work towards his dream of training in his own right.
Martin kicked off his career by purchasing two yearlings with one of them called Essayez. Essayez won three races as a two-year-old and really got Martin off to a flying start in his training career. He has had great success with tried horses such as Do You Do and I Done It.
Martin will travel anywhere his horses are suited best. Martin said the thrill of training a winner for himself was one thing, but to train for owners is really something else and what he gets the most enjoyment from.
As an owner in his stable you can expect one-on-one communication with regular updates on your horse. Martin prides himself in picking diamonds from the rough, meaning low-cost horses that win big returns on the racetrack. He believes it takes a good trainer to pick a cheaper horse that can run fast, and has been able to select the following horses:

Martin welcomes owners to visit his stables at any time to view their horses. With world class facilities at his disposal including use of two sand tracks, a pro ride track, grass gallops, treadmills and a swimming pool, Martin is now ready to take the next step and increase his numbers and train more winners for his ever expanding client base.
